How Do You Keep Your Company Culture on Track?
I’ve written a number of posts on corporate culture and the value it plays in employee retention, empowerment and productivity. My recent blog entitled “Why Every Company Needs Culture Champions” talks about the necessity of having culture champions be the keepers of, and cheerleaders for, company culture.
This isn’t a ‘fix-it and done’ strategy, but one that needs to consistently be monitored and course-corrected should it start to drift. Culture champions are your first-line of defense in protecting and evolving your company’s culture.
One of the best books written about organizational culture is “Under the Hood, Fire Up and Fine-Tune Your Employee Culture,” by Stan Slap, a New York Times best-selling author. Stan’s book is a must-read for anyone running or helping to manage an organization. In his book, Stan describes culture as a living organism which talks to itself and makes up its own reality when leadership doesn’t define and create reality.
